About This Role
Structural Design Engineer
will support the delivery of structural design packages for building and specialised defence‑related projects for a leading
design and construction consultancy
based in Abu Dhabi.
The role requires a technically strong engineer with
5–10 years of experience
, including
mandatory expertise in explosive engineering
and proven consultancy‑based design exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- **Structural design development**
- — Prepare and review structural design calculations, drawings, and technical reports across concept, schematic, detailed, and IFC stages.
- **Explosive engineering design**
- — Apply blast‑resistant design principles, structural hardening methods, and protective design standards for high‑risk facilities.
- **Code compliance**
- — Ensure designs comply with UAE codes, international standards, and project‑specific blast‑resistance criteria.
- **Coordination with multidisciplinary teams**
- — Work closely with architects, MEP teams, and external consultants to ensure integrated and compliant design solutions.
- **Technical reviews**
- — Review shop drawings, material submissions, and contractor queries related to structural and blast‑resistant elements.
- **Construction support**
- — Provide design clarifications, respond to RFIs, and support site teams during execution.
- **Documentation & reporting**
- — Prepare design reports, risk assessments, and blast‑impact analysis documentation.
Requirements
- **5–10 years of structural engineering experience**
- within a consultancy environment.
- **Mandatory experience in explosive engineering**
- , blast‑resistant design, or protective structures.
- Strong technical capability in
Etabs, Safe, Staad, Sap2000
- , and related structural analysis tools.
- Proven experience delivering
- concept-to-IFC structural design
- for buildings or specialised facilities.
- Solid understanding of
- UAE building codes
- , international blast‑resistance standards, and structural safety requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills.
- Previous Abu Dhabi or wider GCC experience preferred.
