Overview

The Strategic Procurement Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing procurement strategy to support a multi‑store, omni‑channel retail business.

The position focuses on cost optimization, supply continuity, supplier performance, and scalable growth, while ensuring procurement aligns tightly with merchandising, operations, and financial objectives.

Key strategic accountabilities include:

Procurement & Category Strategy

Define and deliver category‑driven sourcing strategies across trading and non‑trading retail spend, supported by multi‑year roadmaps that enable store expansion, seasonal demand, and margin improvement.

Supplier Ecosystem & Risk Management

Build and manage a high‑performing supplier base through structured SRM frameworks, performance governance, and risk mitigation to ensure availability, resilience, and commercial advantage.

Commercial Leadership & Value Creation

Lead complex negotiations and long‑term contracts to deliver sustainable cost savings, improved payment terms, and enhanced service levels, while protecting business continuity and brand reputation.

Data‑Driven Procurement Governance (D365)

Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 to drive disciplined, controlled, and insight‑led procurement decisions, ensuring transparency, audit readiness, and performance visibility across spend, suppliers, and inventory.

Financial & Performance Ownership

Deliver measurable procurement value through cost savings, cost avoidance, working‑capital optimization, and KPI‑driven performance reporting to senior leadership.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

Act as a strategic business partner to Retail Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Store Leadership, while leading and developing a high‑performing procurement team.

Overall, the role is designed to elevate procurement from an operational function to a strategic business enabler that supports profitable growth, operational excellence, and long‑term competitiveness in a retail environment.
