Storage Backup Administrator

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments.
• Manage enterprise storage platforms including Huawei OceanStor Dorado, Huawei OceanProtect, HPE Alletra, and associated storage infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot Brocade SAN switches, zoning, Fibre Channel connectivity, and storage access.
• Perform storage provisioning, allocation, expansion, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Administer and support enterprise backup infrastructure using Veeam, including job configuration, monitoring, retention, and restoration.
• Administer HPE StoreEver MSL3040 tape libraries, including tape backup, retention, rotation, archiving, and offsite movement.
• Provide L3 technical support for storage, SAN, backup, and recovery incidents and perform Root Cause Analysis.
• Support Disaster Recovery, DRaaS, and IaaS solutions and participate in DR testing and recovery validation.
• Ensure storage and backup operations comply with ITSS governance, cybersecurity, audit, and operational requirements.
• Monitor storage capacity, utilization, performance, and growth and provide regular capacity reports.
• Identify opportunities to automate backup scheduling, monitoring, reporting, capacity management, and routine operational activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation covering architecture, configuration, operational procedures, and infrastructure changes.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Enterprise Storage: Huawei OceanStor Dorado 5000 V6, Huawei OceanProtect X6000, HPE Alletra 6000, enterprise SAN/NAS environments, storage provisioning and administration, capacity and performance management, troubleshooting and optimization.
• SAN: Brocade SAN switches, Fibre Channel technology, SAN zoning, SAN administration and monitoring, host-to-storage connectivity troubleshooting.
• Backup & Recovery: Veeam Backup, enterprise backup administration, backup job configuration and monitoring, failure troubleshooting, restore and recovery operations, retention and archiving.
• Tape Library: HPE StoreEver MSL3040, tape library administration, tape rotation and retention, offsite tape handling, archiving and recycling.
• Disaster Recovery: backup and recovery procedures, DR and business continuity, DR testing and validation, recovery readiness, DRaaS/IaaS environment support.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of enterprise Storage, Backup, SAN, NAS, and Data Center infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis capabilities.
• Experience handling business-critical production infrastructure.
• Good understanding of storage architecture and enterprise backup solutions.
• Strong knowledge of backup retention, archiving, restoration, and Disaster Recovery concepts.
• Ability to handle complex L3 incidents independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with OEMs, vendors, infrastructure teams, application teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in enterprise Managed Services environments is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 11 years of overall IT infrastructure experience with strong hands-on enterprise Storage & Backup administration.
• Significant experience supporting large-scale enterprise data center environments.
• Strong hands-on experience across SAN, NAS, enterprise storage, backup, tape libraries, and Disaster Recovery.
• Experience providing L3-level infrastructure support is preferred.

ITSM & ITIL Requirements

• Experience working with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or equivalent enterprise ITSM solutions.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity, Availability, and Service Request Management.
