Staff Software Engineer - Customer Facing Applied AI

The role

What you’ll do

• Set team direction for agent architecture, evaluation methodology, deployment, and monitoring.
• Design shared agent frameworks, tool integrations, and evaluation infrastructure.
• Identify client problems and design production-quality AI capabilities for previously unautomated workflows.
• Judge production readiness, balancing speed and reliability in high-stakes contexts.
• Partner with core engineering to turn client-specific prototypes into products for all customers.
• Design observability, establish SLOs, and build operational practices for reliable AI systems.
• Mentor AI and full-stack engineers and shape product roadmaps using client engagement insights.

Who you are

• Six or more years of professional software engineering experience and professional Python experience.
• Deep experience building and operating production AI/LLM systems, including agent architectures, multi-model orchestration, and evaluation at scale.
• Track record designing platforms and patterns other engineers use, and taking products or capabilities from zero to one.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar.
• Experience scoping and delivering technical work with customers or external stakeholders.
• Sound judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes environments; ability to lead without formal authority and communicate with clients, engineers, and executives.
• BS/MS in computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience designing multi-service AI platforms for model serving, agent orchestration, or evaluation infrastructure.
• Additional backend languages such as Java; financial services knowledge; production observability and SaaS operations at scale.
• Developer experience or internal platform background, building tools that change how engineering teams operate.

Compensation

• Salary range is $158,000–$248,000 per year.
