Staff Platform Infrastructure Engineer - USA Remote

Role overview

Work arrangement

• This is a fully remote position eligible for remote work from home.
• The role is associated with the Washington, DC office.
• Travel is required up to 10%.

Core responsibilities

• Build, automate, and operate scalable AWS, GCP, and Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Design and maintain fast, secure, consistent CI/CD pipelines for internal teams.
• Develop self-service capabilities for provisioning compute, data, and ML resources.
• Embed security, data governance, quality, and compliance by design.
• Establish observability, monitoring, alerting, and support tiers.
• Evaluate tools and services, translate requirements into capabilities, and drive engineering standards and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and promote rigor and continuous learning.

Essential requirements

• 5+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including data or AI/ML infrastructure work.
• Computer Science or Engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform and familiarity with multi-cloud data and AI services.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and automation-language experience.
• Security and networking fundamentals plus production monitoring, incident response, and reliability experience.
• Ability to drive cross-team architecture, establish standards, and mentor engineers.

Preferred experience

• Life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology experience.
• Experience with regulated data and engineering practices, including HIPAA, GxP, SOX, or data governance.
• Experience working in a matrixed environment.

Compensation

• Annual salary range is $180,000 to $220,000.
• The role is eligible for bonus or incentive pay.
