Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities
- Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations and analyze discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate differences, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, including opportunities to use technology and automation.
- Partner with the Controller and finance team to analyze business performance and improve financial reporting.
- Document and maintain accounting policies and procedures, updating them as processes evolve.
- Ensuring invoices are approved, payments are timely, and expenses are properly classified.
- Work with the Controller to maintain sound accounting practices and effective internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
- Support additional accounting projects and finance team needs as they arise.
- Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required
- At least 1 year of relevant accounting experience
- Strong math skills and confidence working with financial data, calculations, and reconciliations
- Excellent attention to detail, especially when reviewing numbers, identifying discrepancies, and verifying accuracy
- A consistent habit of double-checking work and investigating errors or inconsistencies before considering a task complete
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables to organize, compare, and analyze financial data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand what drives account balances and resolve discrepancies
- Clear, proactive communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and vendors
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
- An interest in improving processes, learning new systems, and taking on additional responsibility
