Job Purpose

The Senior QA/QC Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

This role involves conducting inspections, audits, and tests to verify that materials, workmanship, and processes meet established quality benchmarks.

By collaborating with project teams, contractors, and suppliers, the Senior QA/QC Engineer ensures that quality standards are upheld throughout all project phases, minimizing defects and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality outcomes.

In addition to technical oversight, the Senior QA/QC Engineer plays a key role in identifying and resolving quality-related issues, investigating non-conformances, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

The role requires maintaining accurate quality documentation, preparing reports, and providing guidance on continuous improvement initiatives.

By fostering a culture of quality excellence, the Senior QA/QC Engineer contributes to optimizing project efficiency, reducing risks, and enhancing overall client satisfaction.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC policies, procedures, and inspection plans to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Ensure all landscaping projects adhere to industry standards, environmental regulations, and client specifications.

Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to mitigate quality issues.

Ensure compliance with ISO standards, local municipality requirements, and health and safety guidelines in landscaping projects.

Establish and maintain a robust quality management system to drive consistency and excellence in landscaping project execution.

Inspections & Audits

Perform regular site inspections to assess the quality of landscaping work, including hardscape, softscape, irrigation, and drainage systems.

Conduct material inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, including soil, plants, irrigation components, paving materials, and fertilizers.

Audit subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s quality requirements before and during project execution.

Ensure that all landscaping installations, including turf, paving, trees, shrubs, and irrigation networks, meet design and functional requirements.

Verify that all landscape features, including walkways, water features, and retaining walls, are structurally sound and installed correctly.

Testing & Documentation

Oversee and coordinate testing of soil, water, and other landscaping materials to verify suitability for project use.

Ensure quality assurance testing of fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation water meets regulatory and environmental standards.

Maintain accurate quality records, including test results, inspection reports, material approvals, and non-conformance reports.

Ensure that quality documentation is up to date and properly filed for future reference, audits, and compliance verification.

Conduct field sampling and analysis of plant health, soil composition, and irrigation efficiency to maintain landscape sustainability.

Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions

Identify, investigate, and document non-conformities in workmanship, design, or materials and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Coordinate with project managers and site engineers to resolve quality-related issues efficiently and prevent reoccurrence.

Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality and implement improvement measures where necessary.

Recommend solutions to quality deviations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and contract specifications.

Supplier & Material Approval

Evaluate and approve landscaping materials, plants, and suppliers based on quality standards and project requirements.

Conduct site visits to supplier facilities to ensure adherence to required quality standards before approving materials.

Ensure materials used meet sustainability and environmental guidelines where applicable, including water-efficient irrigation systems and eco-friendly landscaping practices.

Review supplier certifications, test reports, and compliance documents before material procurement and use on-site.

Training & Continuous Improvement

Conduct training sessions for site engineers, supervisors, and workers on QA/QC procedures, best practices, and compliance requirements.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing quality enhancement initiatives and sharing lessons learned from past projects.

Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in landscaping QA/QC to incorporate innovative solutions.

Develop and implement quality awareness programs for staff to enhance their understanding of quality management principles.

Coordination & Reporting

Collaborate with project teams, consultants, and clients to address quality concerns and ensure smooth project execution.

Prepare and present quality reports, progress updates, and compliance reports to management, highlighting key findings and corrective actions taken.

Participate in project meetings to discuss quality issues, improvement strategies, and risk mitigation measures.

Work closely with health and safety teams to ensure that landscaping operations align with safety protocols and environmental sustainability practices.

Ensure proper documentation of QA/QC procedures for audits, certifications, and client reporting.

Compliance with Environmental and Sustainability Standards

Ensure landscaping projects comply with sustainability guidelines, including water conservation, biodiversity protection, and eco-friendly material selection.

Implement quality control measures that align with green building certifications such as LEED, Estidama, or other applicable standards.

Monitor irrigation efficiency, water recycling systems, and plant selection to optimize landscape sustainability and resource conservation.

Assess the environmental impact of landscaping activities and recommend improvements to enhance eco-friendly practices.

Cost Management And Resource Optimization

Assist in optimizing material usage and minimizing waste while ensuring quality standards are maintained.

Provide input on value engineering options to enhance project cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Evaluate landscaping maintenance requirements to ensure long-term sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

Education & Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

A master’s degree in a relevant field (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience

7–10 years

of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) within the landscaping, construction, civil engineering, or environmental sectors.

Proven experience in monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring quality compliance in landscaping projects, including softscape, hardscape, irrigation, and drainage systems.

Competencies and Skills:

Quality Management Systems (Qms)

Proficiency in ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality standards for landscaping and construction.

Landscaping Knowledge

Expertise in softscape, hardscape, irrigation systems, soil testing, plant health assessments, and drainage solutions.

Material Testing & Inspection

Ability to conduct soil analysis, water quality testing, and inspections of plants, paving materials, fertilizers, and irrigation components.

Compliance & Regulations

Strong understanding of local municipality guidelines, environmental standards, health & safety regulations, and sustainability practices.

Non-Conformance Management (Ncrs)

Experience in root cause analysis, corrective action plans (CAPA), and preventive measures to address quality issues.

Supplier & Subcontractor Evaluation

Capability to assess, audit, and approve suppliers, subcontractors, and materials to meet project specifications.

Site Inspections & Audits

Conducting regular site visits, audits, and quality control checks to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

Ability to prepare quality reports, inspection records, compliance documents, and progress updates for senior management.

Risk Assessment & Mitigation

Identifying potential quality risks, implementing risk control measures, and ensuring defect-free execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Working closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients to resolve quality-related issues.

Autocad And Revit

Understanding of landscape design, construction drawings, and project specifications.

Ms Office Suite

Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for documentation, reporting, and presentations.

Project Management Software

Experience with Primavera, Microsoft Project, or similar tools for project tracking and coordination.

Qa And Qc Management Software

Familiarity with Procore, Aconex, or other digital quality control platforms.

Analytical & Problem-Solving

Ability to identify quality defects, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions efficiently.

Attention to Detail:

Strong observational skills to ensure precision, accuracy, and compliance in landscaping projects.

Communication & Reporting

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey quality findings, provide feedback, and prepare reports.

Leadership & Team Management

Capable of training, mentoring, and supervising junior engineers, site inspectors, and field teams.
