Sr. Civil & Structural Engineer

Role overview

Structural analysis and design

• Analyze and design structural steel and reinforced-concrete structures for oil and gas facilities, power plants, and industrial projects.
• Design pipe racks, pipe bridges, equipment supports, platforms, access structures, buildings, warehouses, substations, conveyor galleries, and transfer towers.
• Design and review steel beams, columns, bracing, trusses, connections, base plates, anchor bolts, and structural framing.
• Assess dead, live, wind, seismic, equipment, piping, thermal, impact, and other project loads; evaluate strength, stability, deflection, vibration, and serviceability.
• Assess, strengthen, retrofit, and modify existing structures for brownfield projects; optimize designs for economical material use, fabrication, and erection.

Civil and foundation engineering

• Design reinforced-concrete foundations for equipment, pumps, compressors, vessels, skids, pipe racks, buildings, and industrial structures.
• Design isolated, combined, strip, raft, pile, and pile-cap foundations; assess bearing capacity, settlement, sliding, overturning, uplift, and other geotechnical criteria.
• Review geotechnical reports, establish soil parameters, and design equipment foundations for static and dynamic loads where applicable.
• Prepare and review foundation layouts, details, reinforcement drawings, and calculations; coordinate design inputs with geotechnical, mechanical, piping, and equipment vendors.

Codes, software, and deliverables

• Apply American codes and Indian Standards and comply with project specifications, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
• Use STAAD.Pro and other engineering software; review structural models, loads, analysis results, member utilization, deflections, and support reactions.
• Use or coordinate with Tekla Structures and other 3D modelling and detailing tools; review connections using RAM Connection, IDEA StatiCa, or equivalent software where required.
• Prepare and review design basis documents, calculations, reports, general arrangement and foundation drawings, reinforcement and fabrication drawings, material take-offs, bills of quantities, and technical specifications.
• Maintain consistency between calculations, analysis models, 3D models, and engineering drawings.

Coordination and leadership

• Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, architectural, and geotechnical disciplines; review layouts, vendor drawings, equipment loads, and other engineering inputs.
• Resolve technical interfaces, raise queries, participate in design and model reviews and client discussions, and support procurement, fabrication, construction, and site execution.
• Review vendor and subcontractor submissions, manage engineering changes, and reduce rework through coordination and timely reviews.
• Lead, guide, and mentor engineers, designers, and detailers; allocate tasks, monitor progress, review team deliverables, and coordinate resource and delivery commitments.

Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• 12–15 years of relevant civil and structural engineering experience, including strong experience in oil and gas, power generation, and industrial projects.
• Experience in EPC, FEED, detailed engineering, and brownfield modification projects.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.

Required technical skills

• Practical knowledge of American codes and Indian Standards for industrial structural and foundation design.
• Experience in structural steel, reinforced-concrete structures, equipment foundations, pipe racks, and industrial buildings.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro; familiarity with Tekla Structures and structural connection design software.
• Knowledge of wind and seismic analysis, industrial loads, load combinations, structural stability, geotechnical parameters, and anchor bolt design.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, vendor documents, equipment data, and project specifications; experience with calculations, technical documentation, checking, and quality control.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, coordination, planning, and team leadership skills.

Preferred experience

• Experience in refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing facilities, pipelines, power plants, and heavy industrial facilities is preferred.
• Experience with steel fabrication drawings, connection design, 3D model reviews, and constructability assessments is preferred.
• Knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration assessment, and foundations for rotating equipment is preferred.
• Experience with structural strengthening, rehabilitation, and existing-facility assessments is preferred.
• Exposure to international clients, engineering consultants, and multidisciplinary EPC teams is preferred.
• Experience in man-hour estimation, resource planning, progress monitoring, and deliverable management is preferred.

Performance expectations
