Duties
- Prepare components and large weldments for powder coating by removing burrs, slag, spatter, rust, and scale.
- Hang parts on racks, blast, wash, and dry them, then apply an even powder coating that meets company standards.
- Follow directions to determine which colors parts should receive.
- Inspect and feel surfaces for defects and determine the appropriate cleaning and hanging process.
- Use hand tools and machines, including a grinder to remove scratches, excess weld material, and burrs.
- Perform light machinery maintenance; replace worn abrasive discs, wheels, and belts; and sharpen chisels and scrapers.
- Operate a sandblasting machine to clean surfaces before painting or coating.
- Move parts into and out of the work area and follow company safety standards.
- Perform other duties as described under the Helper role.
Work location
- Work location is in person.
Requirements
- Ability to follow directions to determine the color of parts to be painted.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and machines.
- Ability to move parts in and out of the work area.
- Must perform work in accordance with company safety standards.
