Overview

  • $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Health, dental, and vision coverage starts immediately
  • Austin, TX (in-person role)
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Reaching the pinnacle of competitive sport—whether as an Olympian, World Champion, or D1 First Team All-American—requires exceptional discipline.
  • The question is: can you convert that experience into concrete coaching methods that drive student excellence?
  • At Texas Sports Academy, your playing days evolve into a new challenge: developing champions by coaching students directly, not observing from a distance.
  • Daily, you'll push them past perceived limits.
  • Rather than simply recounting your achievements, you'll transform elite athletic principles into practical motivational tools, deliver resilience training through interactive workshops, and lead intense practice sessions where championship standards apply to everyone.
  • Austin provides year-round access to outdoor training environments, a vibrant athletic community, and a purpose-centered culture where your high-performance background becomes the cornerstone for mentoring emerging leaders.
  • Lead with intention.
  • Drive change through engagement.
  • Submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting individualized motivation sessions where your competitive background informs targeted, practical coaching approaches
  • Facilitating dynamic morning assemblies that energize the full student population
  • Delivering interactive life skills workshops, coaching students directly through exercises in resilience, leadership, and goal achievement
  • Leading organized afternoon athletic training that embodies championship principles: creating drills, demanding effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through athletic activity (not passive supervision)
  • Engaging proactively with students all day: moving through independent study periods, stepping in to inspire when students encounter obstacles, and seizing moments to catalyze transformative thinking

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Observing passively from the periphery: this role demands active participation. You'll be present on the floor, directing sessions, and responding to needs as they arise.
  • Delivering conventional academic instruction or adhering to set curricula: students engage with adaptive learning technology. Your focus is life coaching, inspiration, and teaching transferable skills through athletics and mentorship.

Basic Requirements

  • Sports Mentor key responsibilities
  • We're looking for accomplished former athletes with credentials at the elite tier of competition — Olympians, World Champions, professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach life skills through athletic contexts
  • Track record of motivational leadership within athletic, educational, or professional environments
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to reside in or move to Austin, TX
