Overview
The Specialist Anaesthesiologist is responsible for providing comprehensive anaesthesia services for patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.
The role involves pre-operative assessment, administration of anaesthesia, intra-operative monitoring, post-operative care, pain management, and emergency response while ensuring compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations and international patient safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed pre-anaesthetic evaluations, including medical history review, physical examination, and risk assessment.
- Develop individualized anaesthesia plans based on patient condition, procedure type, and clinical requirements.
- Administer general, regional, local, and sedation anaesthesia safely and effectively.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological status during procedures and make necessary adjustments to anaesthetic management.
- Manage airway interventions and respond to perioperative emergencies and critical situations.
- Provide post-operative monitoring, recovery management, and pain control services.
- Diagnose and manage anaesthesia-related complications.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, intensivists, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in emergency resuscitation and critical care support when required.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation, clinical records, and procedure notes.
- Ensure adherence to DHA regulations, hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and departmental meetings.
- Stay updated with advances in anaesthesiology through Continuing Medical Education (CME) and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- MD, DNB, Arab Board, FRCA, American Board, or equivalent qualification in Anaesthesiology.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Additional certifications in critical care, pain management, or advanced airway management are advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization experience in Anaesthesiology.
- Experience in tertiary hospitals, surgical centers, day surgery units, ICU, or multispecialty healthcare facilities preferred.
- UAE/GCC healthcare experience is an advantage.
- Experience in managing complex surgical and emergency cases preferred.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
