Overview
As a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Teacher, you will be responsible for overseeing the provision of special educational needs for students in the school.
You will work closely with the school's leadership team, teachers, and external agencies to ensure that students with special educational needs receive the support they need to succeed in their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess and monitor the progress of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
- Work with teaching staff to ensure that appropriate strategies and resources are in place to support students with SEND.
- Provide advice and guidance to teaching staff on meeting the needs of students with SEND.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals, such as educational psychologists and health services, to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of students with SEND.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in special educational needs and disabilities.
- Attend meetings with parents, carers and other professionals to discuss the progress of students with SEND.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent qualification
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Organizational and administrative skills
