Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Role overview

Test planning and design

• Review requirements, user stories, specifications, and acceptance criteria to identify testing needs, gaps, and ambiguities.
• Create and maintain detailed scenarios, cases, checklists, and test data for positive, negative, boundary, and exception conditions.
• Define scope, priorities, effort estimates, and schedules; maintain traceability and update regression suites.

Application testing

• Perform manual functional, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
• Validate web applications across supported browsers, screen sizes, and operating systems; test mobile applications on Android and iOS.
• Test applicable mobile scenarios including installation, upgrades, permissions, network interruptions, app transitions, and notifications.
• Verify interfaces, navigation, input validation, error handling, end-to-end workflows, role-based access, business rules, and data consistency.

Defect management and release support

• Track defects using Azure DevOps or an equivalent platform, provide clear reproduction details, and assess severity and priority.
• Coordinate with developers, retest fixes, perform regression testing, and participate in defect triage through resolution.
• Report coverage, results, defects, blockers, risks, and release-readiness recommendations; maintain testing evidence.
• Perform post-release smoke testing and help validate production issues and fixes.

Coordination and quality improvement

• Work with back-office and operations teams to understand workflows, dependencies, and exceptions; translate scenarios into test cases.
• Coordinate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support UAT with scenarios, test data, business-user assistance, and issue tracking; validate relevant back-office functions.
• Identify recurring defects and coverage gaps, contribute to root-cause discussions, recommend preventive actions, and maintain reusable test assets.
• Identify stable repetitive scenarios that could benefit from future automation.

Required experience and skills

• At least 5 years of hands-on software quality assurance experience, with a strong focus on manual testing.
• Experience testing both web and mobile applications and developing scenarios and cases from requirements and workflows.
• Understanding of SDLC, STLC, and the defect life cycle; practical functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing experience.
• Experience using test management and defect tracking tools and working directly with developers and back-office or operations teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, reporting, documentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and take ownership of testing activities.

Preferred qualifications

• API testing with tools such as Postman; basic SQL for data validation and discrepancy investigation.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools, application logs, and network request inspection.
• Agile/Scrum experience and exposure to accessibility, usability, performance testing, or test automation.
• ISTQB certification or an equivalent software testing qualification.
