• This is a full-time, permanent, in-office position based at Rockstar's Dundee, Scotland game development studio.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions for fast-paced game development challenges.
• Contribute to software design guidelines.
• Collaborate with technology teams across worldwide studios.
• Develop understanding of internal systems and learn technologies to advance applications.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Java backend development experience.
• Strong Java knowledge spanning low-level optimization and high-level architecture.
• Deep expertise with Spring Boot and JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs.
• MySQL or major RDBMS knowledge with query-tuning experience.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and change data capture pipelines.
• Java performance profiling and debugging proficiency.
• Linux experience, communication skills, and production-support skills.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with directed acyclic graphs and graph databases.
• Familiarity with media processing tools such as FFMPEG.
• Exposure to version control, CI/CD systems, and build automation.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and multi-tier server applications.
• Exposure to caching systems, Spring Cloud, and Swagger.
• Experience with Snowflake, Apache Doris, or other data warehousing solutions.
• Familiarity with Debezium.
