Placement Overview
The Group Chief Operating Office brings together technology, engineering, and operations teams supporting Lloyds Banking Group.
Software engineers work in platform teams serving commercial markets, pensions, retail banking, mortgages, HR, Finance, and Risk.
The one-year Software Engineering Placement provides hands-on experience building applications, platforms, and digital services.
What the Placement Involves
- Work with engineers, product teams, architects, and technology specialists to build software for customers and colleagues.
- Write code using languages such as Java, Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift, Rust, and Golang.
- Learn cloud development, automation, continuous testing, and modern software engineering practices.
- Help improve applications, digital journeys, APIs, AI-enabled tools, and platforms.
- Use technology to solve problems and learn how software is delivered at scale.

What You Need to Apply
- Be in the penultimate year at university.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding, and technical skills aligned to the role; no minimum projected degree achievement is required.
- Know at least one modern programming language or framework.
- Show genuine passion for technology and motivation to keep learning.
Locations and Working Policy
- The role is available in Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Manchester.
- The hybrid working policy requires colleagues to spend at least two days per week in the office.
