About Scribd

Scribd describes its mission as advancing human understanding through Scribd, Slideshare, Everand, and Fable.

The Growth Platform team builds shared services and tooling for Growth, supporting marketers, lifecycle teams, and partner channels with MarTech solutions.

About the role

The Fullstack Software Engineer joins the Growth Platform team to design, build, and scale shared systems for Growth.

Work includes self-service tooling, experimentation infrastructure, acquisition tracking and attribution, and customer and event data integrations with third-party platforms.

The team prioritizes reliability, scalability, collaboration, pragmatic problem-solving, and making systems easy for other teams to build on.

Responsibilities

  • Build intuitive, performant self-service tools that let marketers and other teams work without engineering help.
  • Build and maintain integrations that share customer and event data with third-party platforms, including lifecycle marketing tools.
  • Ensure scalability, testability, and maintainability throughout development.
  • Collaborate with marketers, data analysts, lifecycle teams, and Growth engineers on solutions for marketing effectiveness, attribution accuracy, and customer engagement.
  • Participate in technical design, code reviews, and best-practice implementation; identify system and process improvements.
  • Collaborate across teams, advance impactful projects, and propose solutions to technical challenges.

Required qualifications

  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem.
  • Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and architectural tradeoffs.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs; GraphQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of experimentation, A/B testing, personalization systems, and the MarTech landscape.
  • Clear, frequent communication with cross-functional partners, collaborative decision-making, strong problem-solving, and attention to detail.

Nice to have

  • Experience with event tracking, data pipelines, or syncing user data across internal and third-party systems.
  • Growth Engineering or Growth Platform experience at a product-led company.
  • Experience with Redis, Kafka, MySQL, or Terraform; knowledge of GraphQL or Next.js.
  • Familiarity with migrating monolithic architectures to microservices or microfrontends.

Workplace

  • Scribd Flex lets employees choose a workstyle and location, with occasional in-person attendance required for all employees.
  • Employees must have a primary residence in or near an approved city; Toronto is among the listed Canadian locations.

Compensation

  • Compensation includes a location-based salary range, equity eligibility, and benefits; the posting lists placeholder Canada salary values rather than a usable range.
  • Pay decisions consider experience, job-related skills, education or training, and organizational needs.

Benefits

  • Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage; mental health and disability support; paid time off and parental leave; retirement matching and equity; learning programs; wellness and home-office stipends; and product access.
