Software Engineer on the engineering team, building and maintaining scalable full-stack solutions.
The role includes leading integration and operation of production AI features in a customer-facing product.
What you’ll do
- Develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions; contribute to architecture decisions focused on configurability and maintainability.
- Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of production AI features such as RAG, vector search, LLM integrations, and agents.
- Use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code integrity.
- Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-focused features.
- Optimize application performance, security, and reliability, and conduct code reviews.
- Resolve technical challenges and improve development processes.
- Evaluate industry developments in LLM integrations and automated testing.
- Mentor the team in engineering practices, TypeScript, and AI-assisted prompting.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
- Experience working in a fast-paced software startup or scale-up.
- Proven experience shipping and operating real-world AI features in a live product.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript expertise, specifically the MEAN stack: MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js.
- Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools, automated testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and Docker.
- Database and vector search or search indexing experience is a nice-to-have; communication of technical and AI trade-offs is also a nice-to-have.
- Applicants must be able to live and work full-time in Canada.
Location and work model
- Distributed, remote-first work model; roles based outside Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver office locations can be remote in Canada.
- Some roles may require proximity to Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver offices.
Compensation
- Pay range is CAD 90,000–130,000 per year for remote work in Canada.
