Software Engineer-Digital Payments

Experience

• Five to eight years of software development experience, including at least three years focused on application resilience, high availability, distributed systems, or mission-critical platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement resilience patterns including retries, circuit breakers, failover logic, timeout handling, and graceful degradation.
• Improve availability, recoverability, and fault tolerance across critical payment platforms.
• Analyze production incidents and recurring failures to identify and implement permanent fixes.
• Implement resilience controls for APIs, messaging platforms, databases, and external integrations.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, health checks, and automated recovery capabilities.
• Develop resilience test scenarios, including failover and disaster recovery testing.
• Collaborate with solution architects, infrastructure, production support, and vendor teams.
• Support application modernization for scalability and operational stability.
• Perform code reviews and follow secure coding and engineering standards.
• Document resilience designs and operational procedures; prepare runbooks and knowledge-transfer materials.

Technical skills

• Hands-on Java/J2EE and Spring Boot development; resilience frameworks such as Resilience4j, Hystrix, or equivalent.
• Distributed systems architecture, microservices design, and messaging technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, or AMQ.
• REST APIs and API gateways; Oracle Database PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning.
• Linux/Unix environments and scripting, monitoring and observability tools, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

Functional skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with high-availability banking or payment systems and troubleshooting complex production issues under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools and practices.
