Software Engineer-Digital Payments

Experience

• 5–8 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on resilience, high availability, distributed systems, or mission-critical platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement retries, circuit breakers, failover logic, timeout handling, and graceful degradation.
• Improve availability, recoverability, and fault tolerance across critical payment platforms; analyze production incidents and implement permanent fixes.
• Implement resilience controls for APIs, messaging platforms, databases, and external integrations.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, health checks, and automated recovery; develop resilience, failover, and disaster recovery tests.
• Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, production support, and vendor teams; support application modernization.
• Perform code reviews, follow secure coding and engineering standards, and document designs, procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Support knowledge transfer and handover documentation to support teams.

Technical requirements

• Strong hands-on Java/J2EE and Spring Boot development experience; experience with Resilience4j, Hystrix, or an equivalent framework.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture and microservices design.
• Experience with IBM MQ, Kafka, or AMQ messaging technologies; REST APIs and API gateway technologies.
• Knowledge of Oracle Database PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning, Linux/Unix and scripting, application monitoring and observability, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• The preferred tech stack also lists Java 8/17+, Spring Cloud, Resilience4j, Oracle, PL/SQL, REST, Kafka, AMQ, IBM MQ, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Linux, Git, and Dynatrace.
• Listed tools and platforms include JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, TFS, SonarQube, Postman, STS, Eclipse, SoapUI, Dynatrace, ServiceNow, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and IBM MQ Explorer.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools and practices is included among technical skills.

Functional qualifications

• Experience working in high-availability banking or payment systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including troubleshooting complex production issues under pressure.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
