Role overview

Own a well-defined part of commercial systems from design through production operations, while collaborating with the wider team.

Work spans retail and marketplace commercial workflows and is prioritized by business impact.

Core responsibilities

  • Build scalable backend services and APIs for pricing, promotions, catalogue, and commercial workflows.
  • Create batch and real-time data pipelines, internal tools, and dashboards for commercial teams.
  • Build retail buying, merchandising, replenishment, inventory, supplier-cost, and margin-management systems.
  • Convert commercial problems into technical solutions with measurable success metrics.
  • Productionize machine-learning models with serving, monitoring, A/B testing, and fallbacks.
  • Own testing, observability, performance, and incident response; partner with business leaders and mentor peers.

Focus areas

  • Pricing and competitiveness: build pricing engines, rules services, and real-time repricing pipelines; use ML elasticity models where useful.
  • Promotions: build eligibility and budget controls and experimentation to measure uplift and improve promotion ROI.
  • Replenishment: turn demand signals into reorder recommendations, stock-out and overstock alerts, and forecasts.
  • Buying and supplier management: provide tools for supplier cost and margin tracking, range planning, and price and promotion funding.
  • Assortment and catalogue: build tools and pipelines to identify missing high-demand products and underperforming listings.
  • Marketplace quality: develop seller performance scoring and detect fraud and abnormal pricing.
  • Commercial data: build modeled datasets, A/B testing tools, and self-service dashboards.
