Smelter Blend Planner

Role overview

Raw material planning

• Develop rolling copper concentrate requirement plans aligned with smelter production targets and inventory norms.
• Monitor stock across ports, warehouses, stockyards, plant storage, and in-transit shipments; track receipts, consumption, coverage, aging, and availability.
• Coordinate shipment schedules, material allocation, and supply continuity with procurement and commercial teams.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to shortages, delays, quality variations, and inventory constraints.

Blend planning and logistics

• Support blend planning based on copper grade, impurities, moisture, recovery targets, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with Process, Operations, and Laboratory teams to support blend suitability and process stability.
• Monitor planned and actual concentrate consumption, analyze deviations, and support concentrate and secondary-material utilization.
• Coordinate port-to-plant movement, vessel schedules, unloading, evacuation, transport planning, and storage availability.

Inventory and reporting

• Coordinate stock reconciliations with Operations, Stores, Finance, Commercial, and Port teams; analyze variances and support corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate stock, shipment, and planning metrics, including inventory dashboards, MIS reports, and planning trackers.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly planning reports and develop scenarios for production changes and supply or logistics disruptions.
• Support digitalization through SAP reports, dashboards, and automated planning tools.

Qualifications and experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy, Chemical, Mining, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Materials Management, or Business Analytics is preferred.
• 8–15 years of experience in raw material or concentrate planning, supply chain, logistics, inventory control, production planning, or operations planning.
• Industry experience in Copper, Non-Ferrous Metals, Mining, Smelting, Refinery, Port-Based Operations, or Heavy Manufacturing.
• Hands-on exposure to concentrate planning, inventory management, shipment tracking, material reconciliation, and cross-functional coordination.
• Working knowledge of SAP, inventory management systems, planning tools, and analytical dashboards.
