The Skilled Services Technician has relevant experience and handles basic equipment setup and configuration of associated software at client sites.
The role works closely with engineering, providing installation and break/fix services and maintaining servers or network hardware.
Key responsibilities
- Support problems and maintain a log of required repairs; carry out routine server and network maintenance.
- Set up and maintain backup systems for desktops and file servers.
- Install hardware and software at client sites, perform break/fix work, and test installations.
- Troubleshoot hardware failures and software performance issues, providing technical support and escalating unresolved issues.
- Contribute to client engagement and quality solutions; proactively monitor ITSM queues.
- Provide telephonic, remote, and on-site client support; may act as an informal team leader.
Qualifications and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Solid demonstrable related experience in a similar IT environment and with relevant server-platform operating systems.
- Active Directory knowledge, including moving user and computer accounts between OUs and disabling computers.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team across cultures, prioritize client needs, and adapt to different scenarios.
- Relevant vendor and product certification and completed vocational training are preferred; A+ certification is beneficial but not crucial.
