🎯 The mission

As Shift Supervisor, you’ll oversee Emergency Shelter Youth Techs and help create a secure, nurturing environment for children at Kids Kottage.

🚀 What you’ll do

  • Supervise Youth Tech activities during your assigned shift and visit all facilities throughout your tour.
  • Train and support staff, stepping in to perform Youth Tech duties when needed.
  • Help coordinate care, cleaning, feeding, transportation, and other day-to-day activities.
  • Oversee cleanliness, safety, security, supplies, clothing, toiletries, and linens.
  • Maintain shift log books and critical incident reports; answer phones when needed.

  • Partner with local law enforcement and community agencies during your shift.
  • Foster an atmosphere of safety and security for children and staff.
  • Identify and eliminate hazards; oversee and participate in cleaning and maintenance.

  • Administer prescription medications as instructed and maintain drug accountability.
  • Participate in a rotating monthly on-call schedule.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to meet all criteria for the Youth Tech position.
  • At least two years of college, including a minimum of 15 semester credits in behavioral sciences or a closely related field.

  • Important: the 15 semester credits in behavioral sciences cannot be waived.
  • Ability to qualify as a Direct Care Staff Member (DCSM) through Washoe County Human Services Foster Care Licensing. This includes TB test, drug test (including Marijuana), background investigation, reference check, required training and required immunizations. All staff members must be willing and able to complete restraint certification.
  • Sound judgment, emotional steadiness, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to children’s safety and well-being.
