Role purpose

Lead the development, evaluation, and implementation of traded and treasury credit-risk frameworks, policies, and governance across the bank's operating geographies.

Manage counterparty credit exposures from Treasury, Markets, and trading activities, supporting sound risk governance and business decisions within risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

Credit risk leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle for derivatives, FX, repo and reverse repo, securities lending and borrowing, structured funding, and interbank counterparty exposures.
  • Develop and enhance counterparty credit policies, procedures, underwriting standards, and governance across jurisdictions.
  • Partner with Global Markets and Treasury to structure credit and collateral arrangements within risk appetite, product governance, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on margining, netting enforceability, collateral eligibility, wrong-way risk, settlement risk, and ISDA, CSA, GMRA, and GMSLA documentation.
  • Evaluate and approve complex counterparty proposals and limits within delegated authority; oversee underwriting quality and timely processing.
  • Oversee counterparty, product, country, concentration, settlement, and pre-settlement exposures and guide mitigation strategies.

Strategy and portfolio oversight

  • Translate bank risk and Treasury/Global Markets strategy into a traded and treasury credit-risk framework aligned with balance-sheet objectives, market risk appetite, and counterparty limits.
  • Drive portfolio strategy for Treasury placements, derivatives, securities financing, and structured funding exposures.
  • Lead exposure-monitoring, limit-framework, collateral-optimization, and policy-digitization initiatives; improve assessment methods, monitoring tools, stress testing, and exposure evaluation.
  • Monitor EAD, PFE, limit utilization, mark-to-market volatility, portfolio quality, and counterparty rating migration.
  • Use portfolio reviews, stress tests, scenario analysis, and breach monitoring to identify emerging risk and plan corrective action.
  • Maintain early-warning frameworks and implement timely collateral calls, exposure reductions, margin enhancements, or limit restructuring.

Governance and stakeholder engagement

  • Review and update credit policies, manuals, margining standards, collateral eligibility criteria, and documentation frameworks as markets, counterparties, products, and regulations evolve.
  • Ensure proposals meet underwriting, legal-documentation, and governance standards and contribute to Credit Committee decisions.
  • Partner with Treasury dealers, trading desks, and relationship teams on credit and collateral solutions and counterparty due diligence.
  • Coordinate with Market Risk, Credit Administration, Finance, Operations, Risk Analytics, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Internal Audit, and senior management.
  • Engage regulators, clearing houses, custodians, legal advisers, auditors, and market infrastructure providers on compliance, enforceability, collateral valuation, and trading documentation.
  • Represent Credit Management in transactions, exposure reviews, and regulatory interactions; support training, team capability development, and a strong risk culture.

Experience and qualifications

  • MBA, CA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Finance, Banking, Financial Engineering, or Risk Management is preferred.
  • Minimum 15–20 years of relevant banking experience with significant traded or counterparty credit-risk experience across Treasury and Global Markets products; 5–7 years of managerial experience is preferred.

Technical expertise

  • Expertise in derivatives, FX, securities financing, repo and reverse repo, securities lending and borrowing, structured funding, and interbank placements.
  • Strong understanding of MTM, PFE, EAD, settlement risk, Basel III CCR, SA-CCR, large-exposure norms, and capital adequacy.
  • In-depth knowledge of collateral management, margining, collateral eligibility, haircuts, liquidity, and legal documentation including ISDA, CSA, GMRA, and GMSLA.
  • Strong credit structuring, financial and counterparty assessment, portfolio risk analysis, stress testing, and scenario-analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple portfolios and competing priorities, make sound delegated credit decisions, communicate with senior stakeholders, and mentor underwriting teams.
