Service Performance Staff Engineer

Join Sportsbet’s Platform Reliability team as a Service Performance Staff Engineer and help shape the performance, resilience and scalability of our technology. Based in Melbourne, you’ll lead technical design across multiple teams, establish modern engineering standards and use AI-driven testing approaches to uncover issues, develop solutions and improve a diverse range of systems and technologies.

You’re a decisive and pragmatic technical leader who can move confidently between big-picture strategy and deep technical problem-solving. You build trusted relationships across teams, explain complex challenges through a clear business lens and respectfully challenge assumptions when there’s a better way forward. You take ownership, remain resilient when driving change and enjoy lifting capability through coaching, knowledge sharing and strong engineering practices.

Extensive experience in senior performance engineering, with demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams.

Strong performance testing and analysis expertise, including Gatling.io, Apache JMeter and AI-enabled testing approaches.

Advanced AWS knowledge and experience investigating complex technical issues through to resolution.

Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub, integrating automated testing into delivery workflows.

A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent, plus strong knowledge of Git, quality software development practices and Agile ways of working.
