Service Engineer Marine- Thrusters & Propulsion

Role overview

Main responsibilities

• Overhaul ZF thrusters and gearboxes at customer locations and in the ZF Marine Workshop as required.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment at customer sites, diagnose problems, determine resolutions, and implement corrective actions.
• Carry out installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning at customer locations.
• Provide regional field service, emergency breakdown response, and customer technical assistance across the Middle East and Africa.
• Prepare service reports, inspection findings, root cause analyses, and recommendations in line with ZF guidelines and standards.
• Maintain QHSE compliance during workshop and onboard service activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum 4–5 years of field service, commissioning, and maintenance experience.
• At least 3 years maintaining and overhauling Azimuth Thrusters and/or Tunnel Thrusters.
• Basic understanding of ship propulsion controls and their operation.
• Basic understanding of hydraulic systems and components, with troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of marine-industry ISO quality standards and OHSAS health and safety practices.
• Strong customer-facing, reporting, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised and lead small teams.
