Server Responsibilities

  • Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
  • Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the menu and make suggestions to enhance the dining experience.
  • Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and address any issues promptly.
  • Collect payments from tables and prepare itemized checks that include meal costs and sales taxes.
  • Assist food preparation staff when necessary.

Restaurant Server Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcome and seat diners comfortably in the dining section.
  • Take customers' food and drink orders efficiently.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff for prompt and accurate delivery of orders.
  • Memorize the menu and recommend appetizers, meals, and drinks from the restaurant wine stock.
  • Deliver a memorable dining experience by resolving customer issues promptly.
  • Assist with tidying tables, clearing leftovers, and maintaining a neat dining area.
  • Set tables and rearrange the dining area for larger groups and special events.
  • Ensure cooking utensils and kitchen areas are cleaned after closing to comply with state regulations.
