To evaluate, assess, and underwrite health insurance risks in compliance with UAE regulatory authorities (DHA, DOH, MOH), ensuring profitable portfolio growth while maintaining regulatory adherence and service excellence.
Roles & Responsibility
- Assess individual and group health insurance applications, including medical, financial, and occupational risks.
- Evaluate proposals, endorsements, and renewals based on underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Determine appropriate premium rates, coverage limits, exclusions, and terms.
- Analyze claims history, loss ratios, and demographic data to support underwriting decisions.
- Ensure all underwriting practices comply with DHA, DOH, and MOH requirements.
- Maintain awareness of mandatory benefits.
- Support regulatory audits and internal compliance reviews.
- Review and approve policy issuance, renewals, and endorsements.
- Customize policy wording and benefits based on client requirements and regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate with operations for accurate policy documentation and system entries.
- Liaise with brokers, agents, corporate clients, and internal teams (sales, claims, actuarial).
- Provide underwriting guidance to sales teams to support business growth.
- Negotiate terms with intermediaries and corporate clients.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including claims ratios and profitability.
- Recommend corrective actions for underperforming accounts.
- Support pricing reviews and renewal strategies.
- Contribute to underwriting guidelines and SOP updates.
- Prepare MIS reports on underwriting performance, portfolio trends, and KPIs.
- Support automation and digital underwriting initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Professional certifications preferred (e.g., ACII, CPCU, LOMA).
- 3–8+ years of experience in health insurance underwriting (UAE/GCC).
- Proven experience handling DHA, DOH, and MOH-regulated policies.
- Strong knowledge of group medical underwriting and pricing.
