Project and role overview

The client is a global financial market data provider running change programs for software that connects financial markets through a real-time, high-frequency, low-latency data management system.

The role contributes to analysis, design, construction, testing, installation, and modification of medium- to large-scale infrastructure.

The focus is Linux-based engineering, automation, and virtualization for real-time development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, analyze requirements, recommend system designs, and help define project scope.
  • Align systems with long-term IT strategy and develop application and custom integration solutions.
  • Modify and develop software systems in line with specifications, architecture standards, and disciplined development processes.
  • Test and implement cross-functional systems that meet client and business needs.
  • Research emerging technologies and provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Use multiple programming languages and technologies; perform firmware and OS upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and arrange hardware replacements or upgrades.

Must-have qualifications

  • A Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little daily supervision.
  • At least 5 years of enterprise experience as a Linux, Windows, VMware, and Solace systems engineer or equivalent DevOps professional.
  • IT lab administration experience maintaining test environment health.
  • Expert understanding of Linux RHEL 7.x and 8.0, Windows Server 2008–2019, VMware vSphere 6.x and 7.0, Solace PubSub+, and associated software.
  • Knowledge of Windows/Linux hardware platforms and strong understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking.

Advantageous experience

  • OS deployment, orchestration, automation pipelines, scripting, and change processes are nice to have.
  • Experience with HPE and Dell enterprise hardware, SAN, VMware ESXi and Virtual Center, AWS EC2, containers, CloudWatch, Kubernetes, Route53, or Azure/GCP equivalents is nice to have.
  • Active Directory, advanced Windows/Linux hardware and scripting, RunDeck, and HPE OneView/Image Streamer/Composer experience are nice to have.
  • Perl, C, PHP, VBScript, or Python development skills are desired.
