Senior System Engineer/DevOps

Project and role

Responsibilities

• Plan projects with clients and teams, analyze requirements, recommend complex system designs, and define project scope.
• Align systems with long-term IT strategy and application architecture standards.
• Design and develop application integrations, enhancements, interfaces, and cross-functional software systems.
• Modify existing applications to meet specifications and industry standards; test and implement systems to meet client needs.
• Research technologies and provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to development teams.
• Maintain currency across programming languages and software technologies.
• Test firmware and OS upgrades, troubleshoot systems, and arrange hardware replacements or upgrades, including HPE Synergy.

Required qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years as a Linux, Windows, VMware, and Solace systems engineer or equivalent enterprise DevOps engineer.
• IT lab administration experience maintaining test environment health.
• Expertise in Linux RHEL 7.x/8.0, Windows Server 2008–2019, vSphere 6.x/7.0, Solace PubSub+, and related software.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux hardware platforms, including IBM, HP, and Dell.
• Thorough understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking.
• Good communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little daily supervision.

Preferred skills

• OS deployment, orchestration, automation pipelines, scripting, and change processes are nice to have.
• HPE and Dell enterprise hardware, SAN, VMware ESXi, AWS EC2, CloudWatch, containers, Kubernetes, Route53, Azure, GCP, or Active Directory experience is nice to have.
• Windows and Linux scripting, Perl, C, PHP, VBScript, Python, RunDeck, and HPE OneView, Image Streamer, or Composer experience is desirable.
