Senior Staff IAM Software Engineer

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical deliverables covering quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Lead end-to-end CI/CD pipeline development with GitLab, GitLab Runners, Jenkins, and Nexus.
• Implement infrastructure as code and configuration management with Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
• Own APIs, connectors, provisioning workflows, and lifecycle automation across Identity Platforms and ServiceNow.
• Contribute to backend services and user-facing IAM workflows.
• Apply analytics to RBAC role mining, access patterns, entitlement optimisation, and access recommendations.
• Participate in design and code reviews.
• Mentor four to five junior to mid-level engineers.
• Partner with security, compliance, platform, principal, product, and engineering teams.
• Improve resilience, developer velocity, operational maturity, reliability, and reuse.

Core Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience building production enterprise-level platforms.
• Strong experience with identity lifecycle, RBAC or ABAC, access certifications, and privileged access management.
• At least 10 years of software engineering experience and at least 3 years at senior staff level or equivalent experience and education.
• Strong backend development in Java or Python with MySQL or PostgreSQL and working knowledge of JavaScript, AngularJS, REST APIs, and HTML/CSS.
• Experience designing and operating complex distributed enterprise platforms.
• Experience building CI/CD and DevOps workflows with GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus, JFrog, or equivalent tools.
• Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, and/or Puppet.
• Ability to analyse identity or operational data and derive actionable insights.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD test integration.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, reliability, observability, and software quality principles.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance optimisation.
• Ten or more years of experience with Java, C#, or another high-level compiled language.
• Five or more years of experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Selenium, Playwright, or TestNG.
• Familiarity with SailPoint, Veza, ServiceNow ITSM or ITOM integrations, or workflow platforms.
• Strong understanding of SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Experience with Neo4j or machine-learning-assisted role mining and access recommendation systems.
• Exposure to regulated or compliance-constrained environments such as FedRAMP or GCC.
• Experience with AI productivity and coding tools such as Cursor or Windsurf.
• Comfort with IDEs, debuggers, profilers, source control, and Unix-based systems.

Compensation

• For the stated location, base pay is $190,900 to $334,100 per year, plus equity when applicable, variable or incentive compensation, and benefits.
• Total compensation varies based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Work Personas

• ServiceNow uses flexible, remote, and required-in-office work personas based on the nature of the work and assigned location.
• Eligibility for a work persona may be assessed using the distance between an employee's primary residence and the closest ServiceNow office.
