Overview

  • As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your legal knowledge of, and experience in, litigation law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
  • Major responsibilities/accountabilities
  • Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
  • Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
  • Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About You

  • You're a fit for the role if you have:
  • At least 5 years post-qualification experience in litigation practice (at a law firm or in house) with recent substantial experience (at a law firm or in-house) in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic with business level written and spoken English.
  • Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilise various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
  • Experience of using AI tools in legal work.

Education And Certification Required

  • Licensed to practice law in the UAE and admitted to practice either:
  • as a solicitor or called to the bar in the UK, US or another common law jurisdiction; or
  • as a lawyer in another Middle East country:
  • Desirable skills and experience
  • Some knowledge of Arbitration law/practice
