Role overview

Solution architecture

• Translate business, functional, and non-functional requirements into high-level solution designs spanning applications, integration, data, infrastructure, cloud, security, and deployment.
• Assess options and recommend architecture based on business value, feasibility, scalability, security, interoperability, and total cost of ownership.
• Define integration requirements, interfaces, APIs, messaging patterns, and dependencies; identify data needs, information flows, ownership, and data-platform connections.
• Define infrastructure, hosting, cloud, network, resilience, availability, disaster recovery, identity, access, privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct architecture reviews and design assurance; assess standards compliance and identify risks, constraints, dependencies, assumptions, and mitigations.
• Collaborate with architecture, business, project, developer, infrastructure, security, and vendor stakeholders.
• Support technology selection, vendor evaluation, RFPs, proposal assessment, and solution demonstrations.
• Provide guidance from concept and design through implementation and transition; support cloud adoption, modernization, API enablement, integration transformation, and legacy replacement.
• Contribute to architecture governance forums and Architecture Review Boards.

Required experience

• Minimum 10 years in information technology, solution design, software engineering, infrastructure, integration, cloud, or related technical domains.
• At least 5 years of hands-on solution architecture or comparable senior architecture experience.
• Experience designing complex enterprise solutions spanning multiple applications, systems, platforms, and integration points.
• Experience in large-scale transformation, digital, modernization, or enterprise technology programs; exposure to current-state and target-state architecture.
• Experience engaging senior business and technology stakeholders in complex organizations.

Core competencies

• Cloud and hybrid architecture; infrastructure and deployment architecture; security-by-design.
• Architecture governance, design assurance, technical risk and dependency management, technology evaluation, and solution option analysis.
• Stakeholder management, consulting, architecture documentation, and modeling.

Preferred frameworks and tools

• Preferred frameworks and methods include TOGAF, ArchiMate, UML, BPMN where relevant, cloud well-architected principles, API and integration patterns, microservices, event-driven architecture, SABSA or equivalent, ITIL, DevOps, and DevSecOps.
• Preferred tools include enterprise architecture tools such as Bizzdesign, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Orbus/iServer, or ARIS; major cloud platforms; API management, middleware, messaging, containerization, and orchestration technologies.
• Architecture documentation, modeling, and collaboration tools are also listed as preferred exposure.

Preferred qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science, information technology, software engineering, or computer engineering discipline is preferred.
• TOGAF and cloud architecture certifications are highly desirable; ArchiMate, security, integration, software architecture, or relevant technology certifications are advantageous.
