Role overview

Lead strategic customer engagements in the Greater Toronto Area, especially for financial-services customers across Toronto and Canada.

Combine strategic, hands-on solution architecture with full-stack engineering and customer-focused delivery.

Deliver reviewed, tested, operationally ready solutions and reusable capabilities that support sustained customer value.

Business outcome-led architecture

  • Engage executives to understand business priorities, establish baseline performance, and define measurable outcomes.
  • Translate requirements into architecture grounded in customer workflows, data, and risk before recommending products or platforms.
  • Make explicit cost, reliability, and speed tradeoffs; manage ambiguity, control scope, and reject unjustified approaches, including AI.
  • Prepare executive proposals that explain options, dependencies, risks, and recommendations in business terms.

Technical and AI leadership

  • Act as Lead Architect and accountable technical authority on complex engagements.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, establish clear responsibilities, and encourage constructive technical challenge.
  • Govern AI-assisted teams, defining orchestration, context, retrieval, memory, action authority, authorization boundaries, blast radius, approvals, and auditability.
  • Partner with program and project managers on technical governance, delivery quality, scope, dependencies, and risk.
  • Build reusable patterns, mentor colleagues, and transfer capabilities to customer and delivery teams.

AI-powered delivery

  • Create and execute a practical AI Usage Plan for each significant engagement, with measurable benefits, owners, use cases, verification responsibilities, and guardrails.
  • Apply AI to requirements, code, tests, documentation, and architecture with human review and verification appropriate to the work.
  • Deliver early working solutions, demonstrate progress, and validate results with customers.

Location

  • The position is based in the Greater Toronto Area. The description does not specify a remote, hybrid, or onsite work policy.

About the practice

ISD’s frontier consulting practice combines industry understanding, solution expertise, and engineering discipline.

The practice uses AI to strengthen exploration, design, and delivery while keeping people accountable for decisions and quality.

Requirements

  • Lead strategic customer engagements in the Greater Toronto Area, with a particular focus on financial services.
  • Bring financial-services workflow, data, and risk fluency to architecture decisions before recommending products or platforms.
  • Combine strategic architecture leadership with hands-on engineering and full-stack depth.
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams and validate critical design choices in working solutions.
  • Use sound judgment to frame ambiguous problems, make explicit tradeoffs, control scope, and decide responsibly with incomplete information.
  • Establish human accountability, authorization boundaries, approval controls, and auditability for AI-assisted work.
  • Define measurable benefits, accountable owners, verification responsibilities, and guardrails in an AI Usage Plan for significant engagements.
