Position overview
Autodesk’s Data Platform builds scalable, AI-native infrastructure for analytics, AI, real-time insights, and customer-facing experiences.
The engineer will build APIs, streaming systems, control planes, automation frameworks, and developer-facing platform capabilities.
The role includes architectural ownership and production operational responsibility.
Platform development
- Design and develop scalable REST, GraphQL, and event-driven APIs and microservices; build backend services in Go, Java, or Python.
- Develop full-stack capabilities, including React and micro-frontends, when needed to improve platform usability.
- Build distributed systems processing millions of records across batch and real-time pipelines, including Kafka and Flink streaming and ingestion systems.
- Develop control-plane services for orchestration, workflow management, and metadata-driven automation.
- Design self-service infrastructure abstractions for storage, compute, and workflow provisioning.
Reliability and automation
- Build highly available, fault-tolerant systems; define SLAs and SLIs, improve observability, and optimize performance and efficiency.
- Implement testing, CI/CD, and cloud-native practices; participate in on-call rotations and own services operationally.
- Replace manual processes with resilient automation, improve workflow scheduling and deployment pipelines, and reduce operational overhead.
- Use AI/LLMs and modern tools to accelerate engineering productivity.
Collaboration and technical leadership
- Partner with product managers, architects, data engineers, and ML teams to turn business needs into scalable systems.
- Contribute to architecture and technical strategy, mentor engineers, and raise standards through code reviews and design discussions.
- Promote engineering practices, documentation, and long-term maintainability.
Minimum qualifications
- Five or more years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python; experience designing distributed systems or microservices.
- Experience with cloud platforms, with AWS preferred, and with building and consuming REST, GraphQL, or event-driven APIs.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them effectively.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Kafka or Flink; big data ecosystems such as Spark, Trino/Presto, Hive, or EMR; and data platforms, storage systems, or orchestration engines such as Airflow or Temporal is preferred.
- Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, large-scale data processing, observability, and monitoring is preferred.
- Experience building developer platforms or internal tooling is preferred.
Compensation
- For Canada-based roles, the stated starting base salary range is $107,000 to $157,300; offers depend on experience and geographic location and may exceed the range.
- The compensation package may also include annual cash bonuses, sales commissions where applicable, stock grants, and benefits.
Onboarding
- The role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.
