Position overview

Autodesk is building industry foundation models for design and manufacturing; this role defines how progress is measured and connects capability assessment to business priorities.

The role sets priorities for an AI benchmarking program, interprets results, and guides research, product, and investment decisions.

Works with benchmarking engineers, researchers, business leaders, and industry product managers; the role is an individual contributor with a path to people management.

Capability benchmarking

  • Prioritize what to benchmark based on workflow value, strategic importance, and competitive relevance.
  • Map priorities to Industry Cloud problem areas, determine required evidence, and define comparison sets covering Autodesk and external alternatives.
  • Collaborate on relevant human metrics and comparisons.
  • Present clear assessments of Autodesk capability against frontier models, competitors, and industry baselines, including to the C-suite.
  • Evolve reporting channels and cadence and keep questions moving to answers on decision-relevant timelines.
  • Partner with technical benchmarking engineers, who own task curation and evaluation, to shape future measurements.

Business value and customer validation

  • Translate model capability into business value and evolve ROI measurement.
  • Connect capability improvements to workflows and customers affected, and to revenue or cost implications.
  • Own the customer and industry validation standard for new business bets.
  • Work with industry product teams to ground measurement in customer workflows and confirm that customers recognize and value improvements.
  • Reconcile benchmark evidence with customer evidence when they disagree and determine which should guide decisions.

Competitive strategy

  • Assess Autodesk capabilities relative to the market and set priorities for competitive research.
  • Translate meaningful capability differences into research questions and investment recommendations with AI Research and AI Economics.
  • Inform scenario planning and build-versus-partner decisions.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 7 years in strategy consulting, corporate or business strategy, technical product management, AI strategy, applied research, competitive intelligence, or related roles.
  • Able to challenge evaluation metrics and determine whether benchmark results support conclusions.
  • Able to translate technical capability changes into workflow, customer, competitive, and business implications.
  • Able to structure ambiguous questions, work with incomplete evidence, and develop defensible points of view.
  • Can work credibly with technical teams and communicate relevant implications clearly to executives.
  • Track record influencing research, product, or investment priorities without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical judgment and concise executive communication.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in strategy consulting, product strategy, or structured analysis of complex technical or market questions.
  • Experience using benchmarks or technical evidence to inform product, research, or investment decisions.
  • Experience with competitive intelligence, scenario planning, or technology landscape analysis.
  • Familiarity with AI model evaluation or benchmarking; direct hands-on experience is valuable but not required.
  • Experience with unit economics, adoption modeling, ROI analysis, Autodesk industries, or leading or mentoring analysts.

Salary transparency

  • For Canada-based roles, expected starting base salary is $129,000–$189,200; offers depend on experience and geographic location and may exceed the range.
  • Compensation may also include annual cash bonuses, stock grants, and benefits; commissions may apply to sales roles.

Onboarding

  • The role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.
