Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will build reliable, resilient, observable software and own Python microservices.

The role includes architectural influence, code-quality improvement, product delivery, and team-strategy input.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Solve complex software problems and develop, test, deploy, and own backend microservices.
  • Shape architecture so systems scale while remaining maintainable.
  • Improve code quality through reviews and clear documentation.
  • Deliver outcomes with engineers and Product Managers.
  • Improve team practices and influence engineering strategy.

What You Will Need

  • Experience building and maintaining backend systems and cloud microservices; Python is the primary stack, though another strong language may be suitable.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with testing frameworks, debugging, refactoring, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working understanding of SQL and document databases.
  • Independent ownership, business and product focus, and comfort with evolving requirements.
  • Daily use of AI tools, curiosity, and ownership of becoming effective with them.

Ways of Working

  • Zego uses a hybrid working model with some employees in the central London office weekly and others monthly or quarterly.
  • Teams meet in person every quarter, and the whole company meets annually.
