Role overview

Test strategy and automation

• Review requirements and design specifications and write test plans for scrum-team review.
• Join architecture and design reviews early to shape testability and risk analysis.
• Automate API, integration, end-to-end, and UI testing and integrate deterministic release gates into CI.
• Build scale, performance, and reliability tests for large tenants, bulk entitlement operations, and high-volume imports.
• Keep critical features automated, prevent test debt, and address flaky tests.

Quality, reliability, and collaboration

• Validate data integrity across systems, including that revoked access remains revoked and audit reports reflect actual events.
• Review application code and build tools and frameworks that make coverage faster to add.
• Review teammates' code and tests for reliability, performance, and security and share learning across the team.
• Troubleshoot issues across services and improve documentation, CI/CD, monitoring, and support processes.
• Coordinate with engineering management on quality-work scope and plans and partner with product, design, and reliability teams on feature outcomes.

Production and customer support

• Respond to production issues, alerts, and customer escalations during on-call rotation and turn root causes into lasting automated coverage.
• Work with field and customer success teams on customer issues and protect critical workflows used by the largest tenants.

Required qualifications

• At least five years in software engineering in test or quality engineering, ideally for enterprise SaaS products.
• At least five years building test automation in Java; Python or TypeScript is a plus.
• Hands-on API automation with REST or gRPC and UI automation with Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent.
• Performance and load testing experience with JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or equivalent.
• Experience with continuous integration, Docker or Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform such as AWS.
• Experience testing distributed multi-tenant systems at scale, including asynchronous and event-driven workflows.
• Use logs and monitoring such as Splunk or equivalent to debug test and production failures.
• Ability to write and review designs and code, own medium-sized features, troubleshoot complex issues with little guidance, and work with product, design, and operations partners.

Additional experience

• Extra credit for Identity Governance and Administration, IAM, access requests, certifications, entitlement management, separation of duties, or role modeling.
• Extra credit for single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, directory integration, or integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Active Directory, or LDAP.
• Extra credit for compliance testing involving SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP, including audit evidence validation.
• Experience using AI tools or agents to speed test creation, triage, or maintenance is extra credit.
