Role overview

Senior Software Engineer role in JumpCloud's Device Management (MDM/Endpoint Management) product vertical.

Build endpoint software that lets IT administrators remotely configure, patch, secure, and monitor devices, alongside high-availability cloud APIs.

The role balances client-side operating-system programming and cloud services.

What you'll do

  • Build cross-platform applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux, primarily with Go and Node.js.
  • Work with OS services and internals, including Windows services, kernels, event loggers, macOS launch daemons, and macOS internals.
  • Collaborate with architects, UX designers, and DevOps on available, scalable systems and user experiences.
  • Work within Scrum and contribute to agile development.
  • Learn and work with mTLS protocols and security concepts; use OAuth/OIDC for authentication and service access.
  • Write and automate unit, functional, and acceptance tests.
  • Participate in strategic planning and scoping for Device Management services with product managers.
  • Participate in assigned on-call shifts and respond to alerts.

Required qualifications

  • 7–10 years developing applications for macOS, Windows, or Linux, including third-party application integrations; experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Strong hands-on backend software or full-stack development experience.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and CI/CD pipelines; GitHub Actions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required.
  • Must be located in and authorized to work in the country specified for the role.
  • Willingness to mentor junior team members.

Additional and bonus qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Swift, C#, or C++ is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of device MDM is an added advantage.
  • Experience with Windows services, event loggers, kernels, macOS launch daemons, or Mac app hosting earns bonus consideration.
  • Prior mTLS experience is a plus.
