Role Overview

Description and Core Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and design ownership for major CMS capabilities across the content lifecycle.
• Architect, design, develop, customize, and extend distributed CMS platforms that power apple.com and other Apple digital experiences.
• Drive content models, content relationships, metadata, taxonomy, workflows, approvals, versioning, localization, publishing, and delivery.
• Design headless and API-first CMS architectures for web, mobile, and other digital channels.
• Develop REST and GraphQL APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build integrations with search, digital asset management, identity, analytics, CDN, and other enterprise systems.
• Deliver scalability, availability, resiliency, fault tolerance, performance, caching, indexing, asynchronous processing, event-driven architecture, and data pipelines.
• Drive database architecture and data modeling for large content repositories and content relationships.
• Develop and maintain Java backend services and microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Evaluate, extend, and customize Java-based open-source CMS platforms and frameworks.
• Mentor engineers, influence architectural direction, and remain hands-on in implementation.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and developing distributed, scalable, and high-performance CMS platforms.
• Strong Java and open-source technology experience, including Spring Boot.
• Expertise in CMS content architecture, content modeling, workflows, versioning, localization, publishing, APIs, integrations, search, and content delivery.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud technologies, databases, microservices, and large-scale content workloads.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, lead complex technical design, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
• Interest in AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows is described as part of the role’s evolution.
