Position overview

The reporting team is seeking an experienced senior software developer reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The role develops software solutions for complex ETL pipelines and scalable APIs.

The developer works with product managers, infrastructure, business operations, quality assurance, and other teams to make reporting data accessible, reliable, and well structured.

Data pipelines

  • Develop ETL pipelines that load data from multiple sources into a centralized repository.
  • Improve pipelines for efficiency, reliability, and scalability; monitor issues and ensure data integrity.
  • The technology stack includes Python, Airflow, Snowflake, Hive, MySQL, Kinesis, Kafka, and AWS.

APIs and software quality

  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices, applying security, scaling, cost-effectiveness, and testing best practices.
  • Create unit and integration tests and contribute to API documentation.
  • Resolve application issues and bugs, identify bottlenecks, and improve code and databases.
  • Improve data-processing and query performance; review code and provide constructive feedback.

Collaboration and data protection

  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, cross-functional teams, and partners to understand data requirements and deliver relevant insights.
  • Stay current with data engineering practices and recommend technology improvements.
  • Implement access controls and encryption and comply with data privacy regulations.

Minimum qualifications

  • 7+ years of software development experience in multiple capacities.
  • 2+ years with big data technologies, such as Airflow, EMR/Spark, Snowflake, or Hadoop/Hive.
  • Experience with data streaming technologies such as Kinesis or Kafka.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java/Scala.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices and using relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Background in cloud technologies, such as AWS, S3/EBS, Lambda, EKS, or CloudWatch.
  • Familiarity with observability platforms such as Splunk or Datadog.
  • Knowledge of design patterns, modern development practices such as Agile, and open-source technologies; excellent debugging skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certifications are optional; AWS Certified Developer – Associate is listed.
