Parsons is hiring a Senior Roads Design Engineer to work within a PMO on major highway and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Responsibilities
- Review road and highway drawings, specifications, and design reports at concept and detailed design stages, focusing on interfaces with other disciplines.
- Develop conceptual alternatives and engineering details for highways and multilevel interchanges.
- Analyze road and interchange options using cost-benefit analysis and make recommendations.
- Prepare and review pavement calculations and road safety design elements for compliance.
- Review third-party submissions, supplier drawings, and technical documents; prepare technical comments and bid analyses.
- Coordinate design issues and comments with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to support approvals.
- Present complex design matters to clients, teams, and external stakeholders; advise senior management on risks, value engineering, and constructability as appropriate.
- Lead or participate in Road Safety Audits at key project stages and ensure findings are documented and addressed.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 15 years of roadway design experience, especially highway and complex multilevel interchange design.
- Capability in geometric road design, including alignments, cross-sections, interchanges, ramps, and junction layouts.
- Strong knowledge of pavement design principles and road safety engineering.
- Experience reviewing third-party designs and working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Experience conducting or contributing to formal Road Safety Audits for highway and urban road projects.
- Recognized Road Safety Auditor certification or equivalent accredited qualification is required.
Desired qualifications
- A master's degree is desirable; the posting also lists a master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering among desired skills.
- Design consultancy and/or PMC/PMO experience is desired.
- Chartered status with a recognized engineering body and experience managing large tasks or projects are desired.
