Role Purpose
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost and contractual aspects of landscape projects, ensuring effective financial control from project inception to completion.
The role involves preparing and reviewing cost estimates, BOQs, valuations, and variation orders, as well as monitoring project budgets and expenditures.
The Quantity Surveyor ensures that all works are accurately measured, certified, and aligned with contract requirements, while supporting commercial decisions that optimize project cost, profitability, and financial risk management.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and review BOQs, cost estimates, and tender documents for landscape projects.
- Carry out accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and site measurements.
- Manage interim valuations, payment applications, and certification processes.
- Evaluate and prepare variation orders, claims, and contractual correspondence.
- Monitor project costs against budgets and provide regular cost reports and forecasts.
- Support procurement by preparing cost comparisons and evaluating supplier/subcontractor quotations.
- Ensure all works are measured and valued in accordance with contract conditions and industry standards.
- Liaise with project managers, consultants, and site teams to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
- Assist in contract administration, including review of contract documents and risk identification.
- Monitor subcontractor payments and final accounts to ensure financial accuracy and control.
- Participate in negotiations with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on cost-related matters.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for all commercial and contractual activities.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 7+ years drafting experience; infrastructure/landscape project exposure preferred.
- AutoCAD, CostX mandatory; Civil 3D/Revit helpful; strong drawing control discipline.
