Our Biodiversity & Heritage Regulator team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer to play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of biodiversity stewardship agreements across NSW. You’ll lead complex projects, contribute to operational policy and provide practical guidance that supports effective and consistent program delivery.

In this role, you’ll work across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams to complete assessments of biodiversity stewardship agreement applications, develop and implement operational policies, processes, guidelines and procedures supporting the Biodiversity Stewardship Program, Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. You’ll provide technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, including landholders, program partners and agency staff, while contributing to program design and review. You’ll also prepare high-quality reports, briefings, submissions and ministerial correspondence, and manage projects to deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets.

About You

Knowledge and experience in natural resource management and planning for environmental issues, with an understanding of the policy and legislative frameworks that support successful program delivery.

Strong project management skills, with experience planning and coordinating complex projects, managing competing priorities, monitoring milestones and proactively identifying and managing risks.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and interpret information, identify emerging issues and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex information and prepare high-quality reports, briefing notes, policy and procedural guidance and correspondence for a range of audiences.

Demonstrated ability to build productive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, government and non-government organisations, landholders and other partners.

A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a high standard of work.
