About the role

Own the strategy, vision, and roadmap for editorial decision support at the post-peer-review stage, when editors decide whether to accept, reject, or request revisions.

The product aims to guide a time-intensive editorial workflow while supporting publication standards, research communities, and transparent decisions.

Work with engineering, UX, data science, analysts, and subject-matter experts on Elsevier’s global submissions and publishing experience.

Role responsibilities

  • Drive product vision, strategy, and roadmap for post-peer-review decision support.

  • Gather scientific editor insights and translate decision-making challenges into product improvements.
  • Use research, analytics, and experimentation to make evidence-based decisions and define success measures.
  • Evaluate AI capabilities such as review synthesis, contradiction detection, and evidence linking with data science teams.
  • Define KPIs and OKRs, assess business and user outcomes, and consider build, buy, or partner options.
  • Balance product, technical, and architectural considerations with engineering teams.
  • Support transparency, accountability, responsible AI, human oversight, and auditability.
  • Align Publishing, Technology, Operations, Editorial Strategy, and Research Integrity stakeholders.
  • Support launches, go-to-market work, customer adoption, and migration planning.

Skills and requirements

  • Significant product management experience, including product strategy, roadmap development, and delivery.
  • Strong product judgment, complex problem definition, trade-off evaluation, and focus on user outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience with AI and machine-learning products, including generative AI, RAG, or agent-based workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data, experimentation, and research.
  • Spec-Driven Development experience is beneficial but not essential.

Team

The team supports editorial workflows across millions of manuscript submissions, thousands of journals, and tens of thousands of editors.

The cross-functional, evidence-led team includes engineers, UX, data scientists, product analysts, and subject-matter experts.
