Senior Process Instrument Technician

Overview

Key Responsibilitiesmaintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and control systems, including DCS, PLC, ESD, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
• Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
• Diagnose complex instrument failures and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance activities.

Calibration & Testing

• Calibrate, test, and verify field instruments in accordance with ISA, IEC, and company standards.
• Conduct loop checking, functional testing, and instrument validation activities.
• Ensure calibration records and certificates are maintained accurately.

Installation & Commissioning

• Install, configure, and commission instrumentation and control systems.
• Verify instrument installation against engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Support system upgrades, modifications, and integration with existing control systems.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate maintenance reports, calibration records, and technical documentation.
• Review and update P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and industry regulations.

Leadership & Technical Support

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior instrumentation technicians.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), reliability studies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recommend system upgrades and improvements to enhance plant reliability and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical.
• Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.
• Experience with HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, and other industrial communication protocols.
• Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and standards (ATEX, IECEx).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience using CMMS software such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar maintenance management systems.
