Senior Pluggable Modems Product Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Lead development of next-generation pluggable optical modules, including QSFP-DD and OSFP.
• Partner with R&D, NPI Test, Operations, and Supply Chain to define specifications and launch products.
• Monitor offshore contract manufacturer yield and drive improvement initiatives.
• Analyze NPI and production data, including Cpk, to assess manufacturing performance.
• Recommend specification limits for automated test equipment and components.
• Optimize costs through component selection, design for manufacturability, and supply chain strategies.
• Manage enhancements, obsolescence, end-of-life plans, assembly variances, revisions, and technical documentation.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of product engineering, product management, or R&D experience focused on optical transceivers or pluggable modules.
• Knowledge of coherent and direct-detect transmission technologies, OIF and IEEE standards, and optical interfaces.
• Knowledge of QSFP-DD, OSFP, CFP2, and SFP-DD form factors.
• Experience with lasers, modulators, photodiodes, DSPs, yield analysis, semiconductor manufacturing, SPC, and trend charts.
• Track record of launching and managing optical products through their lifecycle.

Preferred qualifications

• A master's degree or Ph.D. in a related technical field is preferred.
• Communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills are preferred.
• International travel may be required.

Compensation

• Pay range is CAD 109,000 to CAD 160,000; the posting does not specify a pay cadence.
