Senior Mechanical Engineer

About This Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Supervision) is responsible for overseeing the execution of all mechanical works on-site, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. This role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams and direct reporting to the Project Manager and MEP Section Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision & Quality Assurance

• Oversee all mechanical works in accordance with contract documents, including design verification, inspections, material approvals, and shop drawing reviews.
• Ensure quality control and request technical support from Head Engineers when necessary.

Testing & Commissioning

• Attend and approve testing and commissioning activities for all mechanical systems.
• Sign off on completed works with full documentation.

Coordination & Communication

• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines under the direction of the Project Manager.
• Provide technical input to other sections regarding design scope and project requirements.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare technical and financial reports for submission to the Project Manager and Head of MEP.
• Submit periodic progress updates and lessons learned to Head Engineers.

Project Understanding & Compliance

• Maintain a full understanding of project scope, timelines, cost, and quality benchmarks.
• Adhere to all work instructions and company policies as outlined by ALSUWEIDI Management.

Technical Support & Advisory

• Provide expert advice on mechanical systems and resolve site-related technical issues.
• Review and recommend changes or variations as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Pre-Qualifications Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering supervision, preferably in the engineering consultancy sector in the UAE.

Skill Set Requirements

• Proficient in technical reviews (shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, authority drawings, etc.)
• Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems, with solid knowledge of UAE codes
• Project background in mid- to high-rise buildings, warehouses, and schools
• Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, leadership, and coordination abilities
• Proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic is a plus
• Experience in direct client engagement is preferred.
