About This Role
Innovation & Commercialization Strategy
- Support the Director in defining and executing HCT’s innovation and commercialization roadmap
- Position HCT as a national leader in applied, industry‑driven research and innovation
- Align innovation initiatives with UAE national priorities, market demand, and industry challenges
- Drive collaboration across research centers, campuses, and external partners
Intellectual Property (IP) Management
- Develop, manage, and grow HCT’s institutional IP portfolio
- Establish and implement invention disclosure, evaluation, and protection processes
- Identify, assess, and protect innovations emerging from faculty, staff, and students
- Ensure compliance with UAE and international IP regulations and best practices
- Coordinate with legal advisors, patent attorneys, and patent offices
Technology Transfer & TTO Development
- Establish, operationalize, and continuously improve the Technology Transfer Office (TTO)
- Design and manage end‑to‑end commercialization processes, from idea to deployment
- Lead licensing strategies, spin‑offs, and startup formation
- Negotiate IP, licensing, and collaboration agreements
- Develop standardized commercialization contracts, frameworks, and templates
External Accelerators & Startup Development
- Enable access to national and regional accelerator programs and innovation funding
- Support participation in programs such as EGA Ramp‑Up, Khalifa Fund, and Dubai Holding initiatives among others
- Support the creation and scaling of startups emerging from HCT research
- Develop mentorship structures for venture building, pitching, and investment readiness
- Align internal innovation pipelines with the broader UAE entrepreneurship ecosystem
Capacity Building & Innovation Culture
- Design and deliver training on IP, innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship
- Promote a strong applied research and commercialization culture across HCT
- Support student Capstone projects with commercialization, IP assessment, and industry alignment
- Support hackathons, innovation challenges, and startup initiatives
- Enable faculty and researchers to translate research outcomes into real‑world applications
Governance, KPIs & Performance
- Participate in the implementation of PURE Research Information Management (RIM) System
- Track and report innovation performance metrics, including:
- IP disclosures and patent filings
- Licensing agreements
- Startups and spin‑offs
- Accelerator and funding participation
- Develop and maintain IP governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
- Provide regular performance reports to senior leadership
Qualifications :-
- Education
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Law, Intellectual Property, or Technology Management is an advantage.
- Required Skills :-
- 8–12+ years of experience in innovation, IP management, or technology transfer
- Experience in energy, utilities, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is preferred
- Demonstrated track record in IP development, licensing, commercialization, or startup creation
- Preferred Skills :-
- Experience in developing and managing innovation strategies
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
