Role overview

Responsibilities

• Work with development and product teams to implement e-commerce solutions; review project requirements, designs, and third-party integrations.
• Rewrite and refactor third-party Magento projects to align with Magento standards and best practices.
• Build custom Magento modules and extend functionality using Magento APIs.
• Troubleshoot and optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security; profile backend components and identify bottlenecks.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and maintain code integrity, automation, and Magento coding standards.
• Maintain integrations with payment gateways, CRMs, and marketing platforms.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and automated regression tests.
• Document development processes, configurations, and team best practices.

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years of e-commerce application development experience as a Magento 2 developer.
• Strong Magento 2 architecture, module, API, and customization knowledge; in-depth PHP and MySQL skills.
• Experience rewriting or refactoring legacy third-party Magento projects.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Strong Magento coding standards, automation, and best-practice knowledge.
• Frontend knowledge including Knockout.js, RequireJS, and LESS, plus experience integrating React or Vue.js into Magento.
• Hands-on Magento performance optimization, including techniques such as Varnish, Redis, and database indexing.
• Experience with testing tools such as PHPUnit, Selenium, or Cypress; strong debugging, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Large-scale e-commerce systems, complex integrations, Progressive Web Applications, Magento PWA Studio, Magento Marketplace submissions, and Agile experience are preferred.
• Magento Certified Developer certification is a plus.
